It’s Quad Season — Kreutz Creek Quads This Saturday!

Join us this Saturday for the Kreutz Creek Quads at Kreutz Creek Library in Hellam, PA — open to all skill levels, with sections for seasoned tournament players and first-timers alike. Spots are limited to 50 players, so register now!


When: Saturday — Registration 10:00–10:30 a.m., Rounds begin 10:45 a.m. Where: Kreutz Creek Library, 66 Walnut Springs Rd., Hellam Township, PA 17406 Register: Register online at Ticket Tailor or at the door (cash only)


Sections

Open Section — $20 entry. For USCF members of all ages and ratings. Must be a current USCF member to participate. Join USCF here.

  • Format: Quads (groups of 4 — each player plays the other 3)
  • Time control: G/40; d5
  • Rounds: 10:45 a.m. / 12:30 p.m. / 2:15 p.m.
  • Prize: $50 to the section winner (ties split evenly)

Non-Rated Section — $5 entry. Open to unrated players and USCF members rated below 1000. The perfect low-pressure introduction to tournament chess.

  • Format: Quads or Swiss, depending on entries
  • Time control: G/20; d5
  • Rounds: 10:45 a.m. / 11:50 a.m. / 1:30 p.m.
  • Prize: It’s a SURprize!

USCF members rated under 1000 may choose either section.


A few things to know

  • Capacity is limited — 30 spots in the Open section, 20 in Non-Rated. Sign up early to guarantee your spot.
  • Bring cash for day-of registration.
  • Pack a lunch — no food is available for purchase at the library. Eating and drinking is permitted only in the main tournament room.
  • Rounds can start early if all players in a quad agree.

The Kreutz Creek Quads are held on the fourth Saturday of each month. Whether you’re chasing that $50 prize or just want to play some competitive chess in a friendly setting, we’d love to see you there.
