Promoting Chess and Friendship in York, PA and beyond

Support York Chess

York Chess Club is for chess players of all ages and skill levels. We provide a welcoming environment to learn, play, and enjoy the timeless game of chess through regular meetings, tournaments, and special events. Our goal is to foster a love for chess and connect people within our community.

To continue offering these valuable opportunities and expand our reach, we rely on the generous support of individuals like you. There are three easy ways you can contribute to the success of York Chess Club:

Give Local York

This is our first year participating in Give Local York, a county-wide day of giving on May 1. Your contribution on this day helps us maximize your impact through potential matching funds and community recognition. Join us in making a difference for local chess!

Donate Directly

You can make a secure online donation to the York Chess Club anytime through our dedicated Givebutter fundraising link: https://givebutter.com/yorkchessclub. Every donation, big or small, directly supports our club’s activities and helps us provide resources for our members, like chess sets, clocks, snacks, and special events. If you’d prefer to donate by cash or check, email [email protected] to make arrangements.

Participate

One of the best ways to help York Chess Club thrive is to come to our meetings and play! The more players we have at our meetings, tournaments, and other events, the more fun everyone has. If we want to maintain a vibrant chess community, we need to maintain a healthy population of players. So attend and recruit often! Also, playing in our tournaments helps us raise funds for equipment and supplies.

Responsible Spending

York Chess Club is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) public charity. We do not charge dues or membership fees and we run very lean. We would like to make playing chess accessible to anyone regardless of finances or abilities. Chess can be a very inexpensive hobby, so we try to keep things simple, but we would like to offer more to our players, especially youth players.

With your support, we can expand the local chess community and offer players in York County the same level of chess opportunities found in larger cities like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
