York Chess Club to resume monthly tournament in January.
York Chess Club has been taking a break from our monthly USCF-rated tournament, The Kreutz Creek Quads, due to the holidays and conflicts with other tournaments, but we will resume our normal monthly schedule with a tournament on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Registration is now open, so if you’re itching to play, or if you’re looking to buy the perfect gift for the chess lover in your life, order a ticket today at the tournament page.
Here are the tournament details:
The Kreutz Creek Quads will be held the fourth Saturday of each month, starting Jan. 27, 2024, at the Kreutz Creek Library, 66 Walnut Springs Rd., Hellam Township, PA. Each tournament is limited to 40 players, so sign up now to reserve your spot!

- Quads (Group of 4 players – each player plays each other player – 3 games total)

- Rounds: Round 1 at 10:45; Round 2 at 12:30; Round 3 at 2:15. Scholastic Rounds 2 and 3 may start sooner if all games in previous round are finished and all players agree.

- Scholastic: $10
Prizes:
- Open: $100 to winner (Ties split evenly)

No food is available for purchase at the event location, so we suggest packing a lunch. If players use all their clock time, it doesn’t leave much time between rounds to drive for a meal. If all players in a quad finish their round early, the next round can start as soon as all players are ready. Often, scholastic quads finish all their rounds much earlier than 4:30 p.m.
